At the beginning of the year, it was unexpected that we would be hit by a pandemic that will stop everything in its tracks. Quite out of the ordinary, the outbreak became endemic, and then a pandemic, resulting in the gates of Sangam University being closed, much like every other educational institution in the country.
However, as an educational institution, we cannot just stop teaching our students, no matter what happens.
This is why we decided that we would take our education online, by adopting new methods and new channels of communication with students. We took advantage of technology and put students in direct touch with their teachers, even in times when social distancing has become a norm for the society.
This blog is a small spotlight on how we dedicated ourselves to stopping the pandemic from affecting the education of our students, simply by adopting online learning.
Adopting Various Ways of Online Education
The most important part of our plan to stay in touch with our students is technology. Without the right technology, the flow of information, be it news or classroom education, would have been impossible.
Not only has technology made it easy for us to pass on the knowledge, but it has also made it far-reaching as well. We have been able to reach all of our students through the platforms that we have chosen.
With that said, our approach has been a mixture of online classes and teleconferencing with our students. This has ensured a thorough understanding on the part of our students. The way it works is that online classes have enabled students to control the pace that they are studying at.
They can go back and forth within the class and understand the part they couldn’t figure out. They can also take up as many as or as fewer classes as they please in a day, literally controlling what they want to study and when they want to study it.
Combining this with teleconferencing with our professors and teachers, we have bridged the gap of problem-solving for students as well. With a teacher present in the group call, the students can one by one ask their questions, as the teacher begins to explain and solve the problems for them.
The overall goal of using this mixed bag of an idea was to recreate the classroom experience for students sitting at home while also providing them with a flexible schedule. This has helped us in making our education more thorough and have a more far-reaching effect.
Technology Used for Online Education
Smart classes have been present for almost a decade in now, with a number of prestigious brands emerging in the last few years. Sangam University made a number of collaborations in this time, so no matter what stops, education will not. In order to forge a more effective approach to educate our students from various backgrounds, we also got in the option of replacing live streaming with recorded sessions.
